# What's New
## Tuesday, May 26
- Listening to: [An interview with Steph Ango](https://relay.fm/cortex/179), CEO of Obsidian the software company. He's an immediately relatable and likeable guy, and the interview an interesting study in how a CEO's personality can shape a company and ultimately a software product.

## Tuesday, May 19
- Google I/O day. Thoughts:
- It's crazy, but I feel so little at the announcement of all this amazing shit. As recently as a couple of years ago: my mind would've been blown. Today: oh god please stop talking.
- I couldn't care less about tokens, token budgets or how many Quadrillion tokens were burned last quarter.
- I'm about 1 hour in, and I can't believe I'm sitting here watching a keynote address that's basically about searching for things on the internet and using AI to plan a cookout or whatever.
- I tapped out after 1.5 hours, though I can see that the liveblogs are ticking on. Who even are you people? *Update: Holy cow that ran almost 2 hours.*
- I guess I'll listen to a podcast wrapup or something. I have nothing to add here.
### Something to read: Mounjaro & Me
- I wrote a blog post about my experiences with GLP-1 meds, specifically Mounjaro. [[Mounjaro & Me|Read it here.]]

> [!note] Bye Godaddy
> Still in digital-life spring cleaning; I just transferred the last two personal domains out of godaddy. The evolution of the customer experience on godaddy's website is the most perfect case study of the [frog in the boiling water](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boiling_frog) fable you'll find anywhere on earth.

## Friday, May 15
### Bye Tumblr.
Deleted my Tumblr blog and account. No real reason or thought behind it besides: "welp, that's enough of that." I opened "what.tumblr.com" during the site's first week of operation (I believe it was a soft-launch that I learned of through a friend). I had an off-again, not-quite-on-again relationship with the site over the years.
In the beginning, it was a lighter version of blogging, engaging and fun. Before that, I always liked the microblog/tumblog (*Projectionist, anyone?*) format. Eventually they added reposting, and then it was taken over by the sort of popularity contest circle jerking that I despised...a while later it became overrun by actual porn (different type of circle jerking I guess). I had high hopes when tumblr was acquired by Automattic, but at this point let's just be honest...*clicks delete*

## Thursday, May 14
- How lame would it be to start writing sneaker reviews...just in general? Or specifically about old-news shoes that everybody already knows about and weren't super popular in the first place? Anyway...presenting the [[Jordan CMFT Era]]

## Wednesday, May 13
- [In Obsidian News](https://obsidian.md/blog/future-of-plugins/), a new community hub and improvements to plugin reviews and safety. *Feels like another win for the Obsidian team. It's funny and refreshing to follow along their official channels and see the outpouring of love the obsidian team gets from their fanbase. Hope that never changes.*
- My adult brain identifies as *Nihilist*, but there's a pretty strong presence of unevolved reptilian brain matter that wants me to build a [weird little cabin and go live in the woods](https://youtu.be/xpcXCmg8PE4?si=pVbbO2aMnQPpGvAT).
- You didn't learn about [George Nakashima](https://youtu.be/tVbC_8kLdso?si=m5HkEc2kcUvgw1-p) in school, and you should have.

- [Plaud has emergent MCP, CLI, API](https://old.reddit.com/r/PLAUDAI/comments/1tb9fu1/the_plaud_mcp_cli_is_now_live/) tools that should help it be integrated into other workflows and systems.

## Saturday, May 9
- [Digg is at it again](https://di.gg). My honest impression of their first attempt at a reboot last year...not so hot. The software didn't offer anything new, and it the site was absolutely trashed and unusable within what felt like minutes of launch. I don't know...do they have any ideas besides Reddit 1.5?
- No politics on here, I've decided. That's going to be hard sometimes. Maybe I'll write, like...*one*...manifesto and lay it all out there or something.
- [RSS aggregator as an Obsidian plugin](https://www.reddit.com/r/ObsidianMD/comments/1t8idgp/rss_dashboard_220_tons_of_new_features_added/)? Sounds crazy promising, and looks very polished already. I'll have to give this a shot and report back.

## Thursday, May 7
> [!tldr] Today's Mantra
> Today I'm focusing on not giving other people the power to impact *my* emotions.
- [Beannacht, by John O'Donohue](https://medium.com/@onbeing/beannacht-a-poem-8c2c29a4d14e), is a good poem to read every so often.
- Listening to: [Waltz for Debby, Bill Evans Trio](https://music.apple.com/us/album/waltz-for-debby-original-jazz-classics-remasters-with/1440942198)
